Surmary of Enery Camabilitics.

a. It is considcred that interference with the Joint Task Force SFV=N
mission or conpromise of its activitics cowid be effected by:

(1)

Espionage.

"spionage, or "spying", for the nurpose of CASTLE,

would involve the unauthorized collection of classificd or RFSTRICTED DATA
information for a forcign government. It includes the collection (by
obscrvation, theft, sketching, photography, ete.) of the information as well
as its delivery, together with assistinz, harboring or concealing persons
involved. "spionage could te accomplished by the penctration of foreign

agents into the Joint Task Force, ov by the defection cf pe: sonnei of the
Joint Task Force.

(2)

Sabotage.

Sabotage (destructive, delaying ur impending acts)

could be accomplished by the penetration of subversive versonnel into the
Task Force, the defection of personnel of the Tssk For-c, or more remotely,
by a raiding party landed from the sea or from aircre.t. Subversive action
by these means could run along th: lines of the dest-uction of communications
and tcchnical installation facilities within the atoll.
