CHAPTER 8.1 GENERAL Personnel activities related to Contract AT-(29-1)-507 were those normally associated with an offshore construction project but were characterized as well by the extraordinary requirements imposed by personnel security clearance requirements, preemployment medical examina- tion requirements, and the impact of increases in the scope of work. Thus, the first activities of the Personnel Department were related to the establishment of job classifications and wage schedules, the preparation of manual and ronmanual employment agreements, the determination of transportation facilities available and applicable procedures, and the survey of potential labor markets for recruitment of personnel for the Project, Organizationally, the department was integrated into the Operations Division and the department was functionally@fvidedinto 5 sections with duties as follows: Employment Section 1. Analysis of personnel requisitions for the various H & N Divisions engaged in work under the Contract. 2. Establishment of recruiting programs and methods designed to fulfill these requisitions. 3, Accomplishment of interviews with all applicants. 4. Complete checking of qualifications, military status, and background employment records. 5. Decisions on hiring, job classifications, and rate of pay. Processing Section 1.
