1. GENERAL: This Qperation Plan is written in accordance with Joint
Task Force SEVEN, Operations Order 2-54:
a.

Scope of Instructions

(1)

This Operation Plan covers that period between the completion of the CASTLE operational phase and the beginning of

buildup for the subsequent test (REDWING, scheduled for
the Spring of 1956).

“Forward Area" as the term is used ih this plan is defined
as that area encompassing the MARSHALL ISLaNDS.
"Closed Area" as the term is used in this plan is defined

as including the land area of ENIWETOK and BIKINI ATOLLS, the

water area of the lagoons and the water areas within the

three (3) miles to the seaward side of the respective land

areas. The BIKINI Closed Area will be established to provide for safety of transient personnel, The task force ~
will not be required to maintain its status as'a Closed Area.

‘Atoll Commander, ENIWETOK (ATCOM)", as the term is used in

this plan, exercises direction of all JTF SEVEN military

forces based at ENIWETOK ATOLL in pwsuit of his duties outlined
in this plan.

General Situation

(1)

Task Group 7.4 has been directed by Commander, Joint Task

Force SEVEN to complete the disposition of forces following
the conclusion of the test phase of Operation CaSTLE. Disposition of military forces participating in Operation CaSTLE
must be executed so us to provide continuity of operations
and economical
