Deseription of Work
The issue of this Engineering Order authorizes the above action addressees to prepare |
@ plan set, cost estimate and construction schedule for a new Rad~Safe Station at .
_Rongelap,
This station is to be similar to the one located on Wotho, all in accordance
with reference confidential letter (A) dated February 11, 1957, and as modified by
reference letter (B), corrected with reference Teletype (C).
Plans and cost estimates will be forwarded to Home Office Estimating Department for
further processing,
Reference letter (B) is quoted as follows:
"You are hereby authorized to deaign and prepare estimates for Weather and Rad-Safe |
Stations as requested in JIF~7 letter dated February 11, 1957.
"Estimates should be prepared fer each single lecation for both the new stations
and the rehabilitation of ecisting stations as funding for this project has not
been definitely determined,
"During recent meetings in Washington various suggestions in regard to design were
offered a’ follows:

Tanks for potable water are to be fabricated of non-corrosive material,
The plan for the four new weather stations is to be based on the Tarawa plan, |
with minor exceptions, namely:

Move antennas so that not more than 150! of drop-lead to the Operations
Building No. 5 is necessary,
