Ship Rental Costs are those which are paid to charter the R. V. Liktanur II. Charter costs include ship
rental, crew, insurance, maintenance and repair and all other operating expenses except fuel, food and
berthing at Kwajalein. Estimates for 1983 and 1984 allow for part-time use of an additional vessel. The
charter was negotiated with no increased cost for 1982, However, a substantial increase is anticipated
for 1983.

Ship POL - All estimates assume the same rate of consumption and full operating time of the vessel.
Estimates allow for a moderate price increase each year.

Ship S&Q

At sea, the ship provides food and water for all hands, as opposed to none while the ship is

at Kwajalein. Estimates are based on full usage of contracted operating days plus cost increases of about
ten percent in FYs 1983 and 1984,

Ship Modifications

Estimates provide for minor modifications to accommodate new situations.

Ship S&QRevenue credit represents the reimbursement of meal costs by the scientific teams that utilize
the chartered vessel.

DOE Equipment Maintenance includes the cost of installation and maintenance of a DOE pool of general use

Miscellaneous Costs provide for program services and planning, procurement, cargo and travel expenses
which include MAC costs for all DOE direct employees traveling between Hawaii and Kwajalein.
