Support Medical Surveys/Activities - The program maintains a full time doctor and assistant at Kwajalein,
and H&N support cost estimates cover their home and office rental, medical and office supplies and island
transportation.

The salaries of the doctor and his assistant are not paid by H&N.

Each year the

Kwajalein doctor makes various trips to the outlying islands, and at least twice a year teams of specialists make trips from New York to conduct an in-depth check on the island natives, especially those who

are considered patients. Support costs involve air fares, shipping costs, costs for Trust Territory
medical assistants, special transportation, gift food for island populations, et cetera.

Patients’ Mainland and Hawaii trip expenditures involve commercial air fares, living expenses,
miscellaneous purchases of clothes and the cost of accompanying interpreters. Hawaiian trips also
include medical, dnetal and hospitalization costs.
