Relationships of 7.1 with the Joint Task Force and with the other Task Groupe were good and resulted in generally excellent supprt for the accomplishment of 7.1 missions. Although RADM Tyree did not report for duty as Commander Task Group 7.3 until January 1958, his appreciation of the operational problems of the scientific task group was outstanding. Task Group 7.1 enjoyed the closest relationship with him and his staff and the best Support yet received from a Navy Task Group. Relationships within Task Group 7.1 were close and cordial. During the planning stage the Task Group Commander and members of his staff made frequent visits to the Field Command and UCRL, and to program and project sites as necessary to get firsthand information on plans and requirements; and to insure operational feasibility, safety, coordination and adequate support.
