New York 11973 FULL BODY COUNT FACILITY AT BIKINI ATOLL Dear Bob: Reference your letter of December 20, 1968 and my twx reply R290211Z January 1969. Ina discussion between you and Streenan and Merrill of my office on March 21, 1969, it was suggested that the Full Body Count Facility be located in an existing bunker located about the center of Bikini Island. The location on Bikini is suggested after discussione with Dr, Jack Tobin, of the Trust Territory, wherein he stated that the center of the Bikini Community will be located near the old cemetery. The bunker is located approximately a quarter of a mile from this area. Reference the attached drawings, SK 8 & 9, showing the location. The bunker is in very good condition and has a room with about the same floor space as shown on the sketch attached to your December 20, 1968 letter, We have attached drawing No. SK-7.P] showing the bunker with a proposed layout for an your review and comment. | If it should develop that the facility should be located on Eneu, there is also a concrete building located in the north-central part of the Island with a room of approximately the same sise that could be used. The construction costs will be the same at either site.
