The Agenda for the joint AEC-Department of Defense sponsored
symposium on "Chemistry and Physics of Radiation Dosimetry” was
reviewed by the Branch. ‘the conference which is scheduled for
September 18, 19, and 20 is very comprehensive and should be of
considerable value to both organizations.

In cooperation with the PFS, the prototypes of a simple pocket
electroscope have been tested. Informal arrangements were made

with personnel of the X-ray Laboratory of the Bureau of Standards

for the use of their X-ray and auxilliary equipment in conducting
these tests.

A meeting was held with representatives of the Ganeral Electric
Company to discuss a research proposal concerning civilian defense
instruments. Although there was basic agreement on the type of
instrumentation needed and of GE approach, a decision was deferred
until information is received on the electrostatic voltmeter which
they propose using.
