APPENDIX IV
Individual Marshallese laboratory data collected
during the medical surveys of 1981 and 1982:
Abbreviations: IDN = Brookhaven National
Laboratory identification number; HGB =
hemoglobin level in g/dl; MCV = Meancorpuscular volumein fl; WBC = leukocyte count/ul;
PMN = neutrophil count/ul; BND = band
forms/yul; LYM = lymphocytes/ul; MON =
monocytes/yul; EOS = eosinophils/ul; PLT =
platelet count x 10°/ ul; TSH = thyroid stimulating hormonelevel in »«U/ml; TOX = serum toxoplasma titer (by FIAX) expressed as loge; PRL
= serum prolactin in ng/ml; CAL = serum calcium in mg/dl; TPR = total serum proteins in
g/dl; ALB = serum albumin in g/dl; GGL =
gamma globulin in g/dl.
Comments:
1. Identification numbers 1-86 belong to
exposed persons of Rongelap and Ailingnae; numbers beginning at 2102 belong to
those of Utirik; numbers from 805 through
1578 belong to the Comparison group.
2. Entries which contain only 9s indicate no
data were obtained.
3. Most normal ranges of the indicated tests

are given in the text. The value of 0.0 for

TSH, however, means thelevel was < 2.5
uU/ ml (i.e., normal), and the value of 0 for
TOXidicates a loge titer of < 4.
