COMPLETED
DESCRIPTION The existing system has been expanded to service new facilities
on the Island. In order to provide a controlled pressure system, the elevated tank
has been replaced by pumps. A fresh water pump house (Building 650) was constructed adjacent to the existing underground reservoirs. The pump house is 16
x 32-ft. and is a steel frame structure covered with corrugated aluminum sheeting. The building houses four pumps which provide domestic water service for
the Island. A 200,000 gallon and a 500,000 gallon capacity reservoir, and two
20,000 gallon capacity storage tanks provide a reserve of fresh water for the Atoll.
This is constantly being replenished by the Atoll Distillation Plant.
(Completed
in 1965).
