ase ig 13, Conference with Joint Committee on Commission Program The General Manager presented a draft letter to the Joint Committee, suggesting a conference for discussion of the Commission's program. After revising the draft letter, the Commission: APPROVED the letter as revised for dispatch to the Joint Committee. (Subsequently designated AEC 84.) 14, Confidential Personnel Security Files The Chairman referred to a letter from Senator Hickenlooper concerning the agreement between the Department of Justice and the Commission as to access by the Joint Committee to the Commission's con- fidential personnel security files, and requested staff comment as toa suitable reply. The General Counsel stated that in his opinion, Senator Hickenlooper's letter would not preclude a workable arrangement for handling requests by members of the Committee's staff for access to the Commission's confidential personnel security files. The Commission: NOTEDthat the Associate General Counsel would prepare a reply acknowledging Senator Hickenlooper's letter. At this point Mr. Volpe left the meeting. 15. Disposition of Pacific Proving Grounds Mr. Waymack inquired concerning arrangements for disposition of the Pacific proving grounds upon completion of Operation SANDSTONE. The General Manager replied that the matter had been discussed with the Director of Military Application and that a preliminary estimate of the cost of garrisoning the proving grounds had been submitted by the Military Establishment.
