High wave action accompanying Typhoon DORIS in December 1953 scused considerable damage to the lagoon side of the island, The wave éction was so great that it conpletely underinined the patio of Duffy's Tavern (EM Club) and threatened to underitine the roid and buildings along Lagoon Drive. ' This construction was conpleted early in May. It is interesting to note here | that the lagoon side of the island Ind incurred considerable damage due to Typhovn HESTER, This damage w2s discussed with CJTF SEVEN during a visit in the carly s ’ sumicr of 1953 and it was rececamended that a see wall be constructed to prevent further damage.
