Office Lifting
FOR:

All Employees, Washington

A mamber of injuries have occurred as a result of employees lifting
or carrying typewriters, supplics or other office equipment. Last
month two employeea sustained injuries of this nature causing ten days
of lost time for the emoloyecs,
Exceptionally hesvy "lifts" such as carrying typevritcrs, files
supplics or other heavy equipment, arc not cxpected of you. Leave
this type of lifting to thoss who arc trained and nave cquipmonte
if your job is one that rsquires liftinc, the following rules are
recommonded by the Neticnal Saroty Council, as cfficient and safe
proccdurss:
1. Lift with your log muscles, bend the knecs and not the back.
2, Got a firm grip, make cllewnnces for bulk, as well as for
weicht.

3. ‘atch your step, cspecisliy on stairs.
