Approximatelyone milliondollarsworthwas used in tie operation includingmany criticalitemswhich would have requiredaboutone year lead time to obtainif they were to be procuredin an open market. Requisitionsfor those items~ich it had been determinedwere not availabl~on Oahu were forwardedto Washingtonfor necessarypro- curementaction. Althoughthe Departmentof the Army had established two operationalprojects,BP-1-OPand AFS-1-OPfor procurementof itemsrequired,the policywas establishedthmt requisitions for constructionand maintenanceitemswould be firstplacedon the Oahu services,and if not available,they were then submitted SectionIV 36
