The remainder of the vessels shall be beached. The engine rooms and engines shall be steam-cleaned, and the hulls shall be scraped and painted. In the case of LSU's the quarters and galley shall be secured. The beached vessels shall be blocked up, and canvas lean-to shelters shall be provided. 1. SHOPS All maintenance and repair shops will remain active after July 1, 1951. Although shops will not be staffed on a full-time basis, machines and tools will be used occasionally to meet maintenance needs. Periodic preventive maintenance procedures, including cleaning and lubricating of equipment and checking of motors, will assure adequate pro- tection of machines and tools. Instruments, gauges, and cutting tools shall be kept in the hot lockers provided in the shops.
