1, AEC 9/8 - Post Sandstone Requirements and Responsibility for the
Eniwetok Proving Ground
Under consideration was a study on the above subject prepared for the
Joint Chiefs of Staff by Joint Task Force 7. The General Manager stated
that the three services had approved the report and had requested concurrence of the Atomic Energy Commission in the Appendix, a draft instruction from the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the Commander in Chief, Pacific. Mr. Volpe inquired whether the proposed instruction had been dis~
cussed with the Department of State. General McCormack stated that he

understood that the instruction had been cleared by the Department of
State. After discussion, the Commission:

At this point Messrs. Fisher, Volpe, Golden, Jones, Farley, and McCormackleft the meeting and Mr. Bloch entered.
