THE KISTE AND OGAN SOCIAL CHANGE SERIES IN ANTHROPOLOGY & A =ditors ROBERT C NISTE ECGENE OGAN University of Suanescta Robert C. Kiste was born and raised in Indiana. After completing his uncergraduate studies in anthropologyat Indiana University in 1961. he took his graduate training at the University of Oregon. where his Ph.D. in anthropology was awarded in 1967. In the same vear. he moved to the University of Minnesota where he now has an appoint- ment as associate professor of anthropology. While on sabbatical leave during the 1972-73 academic year. he taught at the University of Hawai. Dr. Kiste’s specializations and interests inciude social and cultural change. the history of anthropology. and Oceania, particularly Micronesia. Among his current professional memberships are the American Anthropological Association, the Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania, and the Society for Applied Anthropology.
