SLIDE 42 Diet and living pattern studies. During the 1970's diet and living patterns for the Marshallese were studied. The data was derived from literature, answers to questionnaires, direct observation by us while living with the Marshallese for periods extending from months to years, and from direct participation in their activities. Complex interactions, such as, the gathering of local foods, the receipt of food aid through programs, like school-lunch, and typoon-relief, and in recent times, the availability of cash for the purchase of tmported foods were observed. The data provided us with necessary information for input into models that were used to assess the radiological impacts attributable to fallout. 45
