This is to confirm our telephone notification on April 10, 1957,
that at Meeting 1276 on April 9, the Commission:
ed that a prime objective in Operation HARDTACK is
the accurate establishment of local fallout in order that
the world-wide contribution can be accurately calculated
by differance, and in order that the effects of firing
conditions can be determined, especially those established
by the Fireball Chemistry Group. The Commission will review
the plans of the Task Force in this regard in September 1957.
LASL, URL (Livermore) and Sandie should give any necessary
assistance, with LASL and URL being given prime responsi»
bility for the technical aspects of this local fallout part
of Operation HARDTACK.
2. The General Manager has directed that recommendations be submitted
to the Commission for implementing this decision.
