Dr. Mays is Physics Group Leader and
Associate Research Professor at the
Radiobiology Division, Anatomy Department,
University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.
His research interests include the metabolism
of radionuclides within the body, total body
counting,
and radiation-induced cancer.
In
1963 he testified at the Congressional Fallout
Hearings on the 1962 Utah Iodine 131 incident, and
urged that a study be made of the Utah children
exposed to fallout from this and earlier tests.
He is a member of the NCRP (National Council on
Radiation Protection and Measurements).
However,
the opinions expressed in his article are his
own and are not intended to represent the views
of the NCRP, his AEC-supported Laboratory,
nor the AEC.
