STATEMENT OF THE UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY
COMMISSTON RELATIVE TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
PACIFIC EXPERIMENTAL INSTALLATIONS
The United States fttomic Energy Commission today announced that con=
struction han been started on Eniwetok Atoll for the Pacific Ocean installations
annererced last summer by the Commission,
In its Second SemiwAnnual Report to Congress, transmitted July 22, 1947,
Construction is being carried out by the Armed Forces at the request
of the Atomic Energy Commission. Lieutenant General J, E. Hull, Commanding
General, United Stetes Army, Pacific, is cocrdineting the work of the Army, Navy
and Air Force in this program,
