BIKINI CLEANUP PROJECT
There is attached for your information a memorandum forwarded to us
by the Manager, HAO, covering items discussed with the Commander,
JTF-8, at Bikini Atoll on March 2.
You will note on Page 3 the statement that General deSaussure was
extremely critical of H&N's failure to develop a detailed plan for
cleanup. This situation came about as a result of the fact that the
original estimate and plan were developed over very short period of
time, and that at the time of the meeting there wasn't yet a local
understanding as to what the program actually required. This is now
being rectified through definition by the Trust Territory of what
is to be done and how it is to be accomplished, and a plan is now
being worked out to the satisfaction of all parties.
