Dear Dr. Seymour t
We have completed strontium 90 and calcium analyaes on the ton interlaberatory
eheck sumples which you supplied. Your data and other descriptive information
wos covered in your letters of Coteber 29th and November 17th, 1958. We appear
te agree reasonably well en all of the strontium 90 values, With respect te
the Scasvola leaves however, you reported your results in terus of the strontiun
90 activity per tetal sample. We received 12% of the total sample weight which
was tengrams and the aliquot was received in solution form. We somputed our
results on the basis of the strontium 90 activity per gram sf dry sample and
agree with you if your reault is reported in similar units. However, in your
letter of November 17th, your data is given in terms of the activity per tetal |
Sample.
Are we in error?
Our caloium results leok quite gocd with respeot to yours in the cese of the
skeleton and the so41, but you will note that there are serious discrepancies
in the musole and Scasvola leaves. Computing your calcium results from the
aveilable strontium unit data, you find compareble values for each miscele and
each Scasvola sample whereas our results differ markediy. I called your
laboratory Monday, danuary 12 prior to sending you this data te see whether you
had dore:.accaleium analysis en each sample er perhaps had used an average rajue
based on yeur past experience with these watrices, Dr. Held assured me that sash
gomple was separately run for caleius.
Tf had suggested thet I give you another
Gall on Monday so we could discuss the results in nore detail after you had had a
chance to look at them.
telephone shortly.
I will be looking forward to talking to you on the
