May 30, 1953 UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION - DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE Test Information Office 1235 South Main Street las Vegas, Nevada Telephone: Las Vegas 6350 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE To confirm at once certain research and development results just obtained at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, an eleventh test detonation in the Spring 1953 series is scheduled to be fired at the Nevada Proving Growds of the Atomic Energy Commission in the pre-dawn hours of Monday, June 1. No observers other than those from the Atomic Energy Commission and the Department of Defense will be present. There will be no troop maneuver. No further tests are scheduled at the Nevada Proving Grounds in the Spring1953 series, This series, like all others at the Nevada Proving Grounds, includes only detonations of energy yields presenting no health or safety hazards under the criteria maintained by the AEC. The series has developed data which will find use in many phases of weapons development. Tests of devices of larger energy release will be made at the Pacific Proving Grounds in the Marshall Islands.
