Dear Mr. Smith:
This is to inform you that. the Commission has authorized a
wv:
change in the reporting requirements for isotopes obtained from
AEC facilities for export. The modified statement will require
the applicant "to furnish the U. 5S. Atomic Energy Commission
upon request reports of the results of use of these materials."
The previously authorized statement requires reporting “upon
request, or in any event at intervals of nct more than one year,"
Radioisotopes are most frequently exported either for routine
medical therapy or as functional parts of industrial equipment,
such as thickness gages or radiographic sources, which are
used for routine contrel. Annual progress reports on such
routine uses serve no useful purpose.
In the modified statement the AIC retains the rrivilege of
requesting reports on work done with isotopes that appears
to be of particular significance to isotope research or utilisation.
On or about October h, 1954, we intend to inform the official
representative of each country participating in the program
for international distribution of isotopes of the change in
reporting requirements.
All other requirements in the program
remain the same.
