The purpose of this letter is to advise the Joint Committee
or the readiolecical situation that developed at *ninetok
Atoll after the firing of TESA. Thie was the next to the
last shot of the series (fired at 0546 on duly @let, Eniwe-e
tok Time) with a yield of 5 megatons.
As a result of the TX*A shot, very light fallout occurred
on some of the islands of Eniwetok Atoll, inchiding Parry
and Iniwetok Islands, and on some of the Task Foree ships
' in the immediate vicinity. Apparently, the extreme southern
edge of the radioactive cloud paseed over Fniwetok Atoh.
Due to the effecte of rainfall, readinge were spotty in inheblted areas.
Possible radiation exposure of individuals
from thie fallout ngy in a few cases amount to about 6 roent-
vens, with moat of the affected personnel receiving appreciably
less. The fallout had no health significance for personnel.
No evacuation was necessary and no svecial protective measures
were taken.
