Dear Mr, Durham:
Reference is made toour letter dated April 1, 1957, con-
cerning the recatriation of the Rongelapese to their home
island. At that time, I noted that we expected that it
would be possible to return then by early summer.
T am pleased to inform you that the reconstruction of
homes and other facilities on Rongelap has been com=
pleted and the inhabitanta were returned on Jime 29, 1957.
The Rongelap Council members and the representatives of the
Trust Territory Administration have expressed their thorough
satisfaction vith the planning, construction, and the menner in which the repatriation was carried out.
