The Honorable Stewart L. Udall

Secretary of the Interior

Dear Stew:

The meeting referred to in my letter of April 3,
May 13-14.

1968, was held on

The ad hoc committee of experts has expressed the opinion that the

exposures to radiation that would result from the repatriation of the
Bikini people do not offer a significant threat to their health.
The
committee recommended some simple measures, which are outlined in the
enclosed report, that would further reduce exposure to radiation.
The Commission has reviewed and concurs in the conclusion and recom-

mendations

of the committee.

Also, in accordance with the request contained in your letter to me
of June 26, 1968, I am forwarding copies of the report, with copies
of this letter, to the individuals listed below.

I understand that members of my staff will be meeting shortly with
staff of the other interested agencies to consider an appropriate

public announcement.

If you wish to engage in further discussion of this matter, please
let me know.

Cordially,
