Reference is made to our telephone conversation of December 17, 1952
during which I requested a decision by your Division on the question
of whether or not LVFO should continue the practice of giving "Rad-Safe"
physical examinations to contractor and other personnel at N.P.G. who
are to be employed on decontamination operations. You advised that
there were no particular reasons for requiring such physical examinations and that they should no longer be required but before confirming this decision to us you wanted certain information regarding
the current policies and practices.
Forwarded herewith are two memorandums from Seth R. Woodruff, Field
Manager, LVFO, which, I believe, contain all of the information you
requested. The memorandum of January 6, 1952 gives information at
the bottom of page 4, relative to the mumber of examinations given
under the old policy and the memorandum of January 29, 1952 answers
your question regarding the policy of the contractors regarding pre=
employment physical examinations.
We will appreciate receiving confirmation of the decision rendered
in this connection at an early date.
