As part of a continuing study of the occurrence «i thyroid nodules

among the Marshall Islanders exposed to fallout in 1%54, the AEC has
just completed another survey.

One new case brings to 17 the total of diagnosed ..ases among the

69 survivors of the original exposed group.

A copy of the AEC letter summarizing the reveat survey is attached.
Also attached is a copy of the revised report of December 1966, ''Pathological
Effects of Thyroid Irradiation," recently released by the Federal Radiation
Council. The Marshall island data is tabulated on pagzss 9& 11. The study
of Utah school children is summarized on pages 6-7. With regard to the
Utah study, the report states:... it is not possible. from this particular
study, to ascribe any degree of significance to radiation exposure, "
