This is to advise you that during the current annual medical survey of the
Rongelep people, Dr. Robert Conard has turned up two more individuals with
thyroid tumors, two bovs ages 12 and 17, making a total of five (two male
end three female) amoas those who were children at the time of exposure.
In eddition, there is one woman 41 vears of age who was found to have
what appears to be a solitary thyroid nodule.
The Journal of the American Medical Association has accepted for publication an article by Dr. Conard summarizing 10 years of observations on the
Konsel2zp people and which includes information on the tnree cases of
thyroid tumor noted last year. It is expected that this article will
appear within the next few weeks.
