Atomic Energy Commission Washington 25, D.C. Dear Dr. Dunham: Mr. Strauss has written me a letter concerning the Japanese fisherman who died subsequent to radiation exposure during Castle-Bravo. In a book which Dr. Teller and I are writing on the general subject of radioactivity we have stated that the fisherman died "presumably due to radiation exposure." Mr. Strauss indicated that the actual cause of death was hepatitis and probably unrelated to the radiation dosage.
