The much-talked about water and bottom sediment collecting
trip got underway after many false starts.
Lowman, Lewis,
McClin--and Jackson, with Sneddon photographing the start left
for the northern part of the atoll on a decked over "M" boat.
The dredge was lost on the first grab when the cable splice
parted.
Sediment samples were obtained from the Mike Crater
using a closed pipe dredge.
