Dear Dr. Dunham:

'The second resurvey of the Marshall Islands conducted by

the U. S. Naval Radiclogical Defense Laboratory with the

assistance of Dr. F. R. Fosberg of the U. S. Geological

Survey, was completed on 15 February 1956.

Gamma dose rates were measured on Rongelap Atoll (Rongelap,

Kabelle, Gejen and Eniaetok Islands), Rongerik Atoll (Eniwetak
Island), Ailinginae Atoll (Sifco Island), Utirik Atoll and

Likiep Atoll. Plant, marine, water and soil specimens were
obtained from each of the Islands, as well as the additicnal
samples listed in enc:osure (2).
As was agreed, we plan to send to the New York Operations
Office duplicate samples of all the specimens which ae to
be analyzed at the Laboratory. We have been informed that
there is a requirement for samples at the University of
