RADIOLOGICAL SURVEY PLAN FOR THE NORTHERN MARSHALL ISLANDS PURPOSE THE PURPOSE OF THE NORTHERN MARSHALL ISLANDS SURVEY PROGRAM IQ TO PROVIDE A DOCUMENTATION OF THE REMAINING RADIOACTIVITY FROM NUCLEAR THSTING AND TO PROVIDE SUPPORT DATA FOR AN ASSESSMENT OF THE RADIATION Doge TO PEOPLE BEFORE THE TERMINATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS TRUST AGREEMENT. OBJECTIVES r THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM ARE: 1. TO OBTAIN AERIAL RADIOLOGICAL MAPS OF THE NORTHERN MARSHALL ATOLLS, AND ISLANDS, A study has identified 1] atolls and 2 islands as those most likely to have received fallout from ofe Or more nuclear tests conducted at Bikini and Enepetak during the U.S. Pacific testing program. 2. TO SAMPLE AND MEASURE THE RADIOACTIVITY IN SOIL, WATER, PLANT LIFE AND FOOD, ADJACENT MARINE WATERS, AND MARINE AND TERRESTRIAL LIFE, AND, 3. TO PREPARE A REPORT WHICH WILL PRESENT THE FINDINGS OF THE SURVEY AND AN ASSESSMENT OF THE RADIATION DOSES TO TRE PEOPLE WHO MAY BE LIVING ON THE SURVEYED ATOLLS AND ISLANDS.
