Reference is made to Director, DASA memoranda of 2 May and 1 July 1960 to Secretary of Defense, Secretary of Interior and Chairman, AEC, subject: “Status Report, Cleanup of Bikini Atoll," which reported the Situation through 30 June 1962. 2. As of 31 July 1963 the cleanup, which continues to progress satisfac- torily, is estimated to be 70% covalete. We would be pleased to arrange for the introduction, at any time, of the initial TTG group involved in that phase. The natives now at the atoll have been used extcusively ia Bikini Island cleanup work, including clearing the cemetery. 4 Detailed instructions have been iscted covering the preparation of work list data sheets at Bikini. These cocwrents are being pre- parcd on-site and when completed will describe item by item, island by island, all AKC-POD cleenup work performed and mutually agreed upon by DOD, AEC and TYG representatives.
