Dear Mr. Farley:

Reference is made te your letter to Dr. Conard dated October

27 relative to matters of the Rongelap and Utirik Atolls.
Dr. Conard has sent us a copy of this letter to furnish whatever information is available from the AEC Honolulu office.

With respect to the $16, 000. 00 for the inconvenience payment
to the Utirik people, it is our understanding gained from a
meeting at Majuro on November 3, 1971 between Oscar

DeBrum, Dr. Conard and myself that $16, 000.00 was being
held at Saipan. Mr. DeBrum, at that time, indicated that
he would initiate an action for the money to be transferred

to Majuro.

Mr. Charles Dominick joined the meeting and

stated the method of distributing the money and the amounts

was not settled. According to Mr. Dominick the Utirik

people were concerned about the total amount and that two
attorneys had been contacted to review the case.
When I was in Majuro on November 14, 1972, I made an
inquiry of Oecar DeBrum of the status of the money. Mr.

DeBrum replied that the money was not on Majuro and he
was attempting to ascertain if it was at Saipan. Dr. Conard

is also attempting, thru our Washington office, to determine
the status of the $16, 000. 00.
