At 3:15 p.m. the Committee considered the recent developments in
Gabriel,
Sunshine
Gabriel, and in particular the extension of Gabriel carried out by Rand
under the name Sunshine.
Besides all members of the Comnittec, the
Secretary, and Mr. Tomei, those present were:
Dr. Arnold Kramish,
Dr. Ernest Plesset, Dr. Lawrence Henderson, and Dr. Harold Mitchell of
the Rand Corporation, Dr. Bugher, Dr. Claus, Dr. Western, Dr. Dunham,
Gen. Fields, Capt. H. H. Haight, Col. Terrell, Dr. S. G. English, Dr.
J. G. Beckerley, and Mr. C. L. Marshall.
Dr. Bugher began the discussion by remarking on the origin and
purposes of Gabriel.
Next, Dr. Kramish summarized the conelusions and recommendations cf
the intensive summer study at Rand (Project Sunshine) embodied in report
RM-1128-AEC, dated August 6, 1953.
At the outset, Dr. Kramish referred
to Dr. Libby's leading role in this summer study.
It was concluded, in agreement with earlicr Gabriel studies, that
strontium 90.
