It was a pleasure seeing you in Kwajalein last month. I was sorry cid not have more time to discuss things with you. I did have a chance to discuss in detail the arrangements for the forthcoming medical survey (Feoruary-March, 1967) with Danny Akimoto. I believe we had a general understanding on the arrangements. We had originally thought that March 1 would be the date that we woul. suggest to you for the Trust Territory field trip to take part of cane medical team to Rongelap. However, I believe that it would be setter co Mave an advance team at Rongelap in order to make preparations for the secvey. I would therefore like to suggest the date of 23 February (22 Foorusry Kwajalein time) for the ship to leave. As I discussed with Danny, lc will probably be necessary to charter the ship on either the trip to Kwajalein or the trip from Kwajalein, depending on the timing of your field trip. If the date of 23 February is satisfactory, we would need a ceturn ship from Rongelap on 15 February (your time). I am enclosing a tentative schedule which, of course, is subject to change, depending upon the avail- ability of ships and planes at the times requested. You will note that we 27s considering the use of two SA-16 flights also, Arrangements fo chis wil pe made directly with Mr. Windsor at Saipan. Enclosed is a copy of a lei si to Dr. Howe with a copy to Dr. Iaman also, in regard to Trust Territory personnel requested. I would appreciate hearing from you in regard to this proposed scheduie and particularly in regard to the firming up of a definite date for the use of the Trust Territory ship, as soon as you can reasonably do so.
