COLOR CODING USED ON MAPS
The color coding used on the maps in “The Meaning of Radiation for Those
Atolls in the Northern Part of the Marshall Islands that Were Survey in 1978”
was based on the concentration of radionuclides (mainly Cs and Sr) in the top
5 cm of soil. These values were taken from a preliminary draft of the report
The following
by Dr. Bill Robison, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
The color code used
are the soil values and the color codes for Rongelap.
