An outstanding job of supporting Opera-

tion HARDTACK by surface craft was performed by TG 7.5.

Throughout the

entire period they s-tisfied requirements as they arose.

During the early

part of the oper ‘tion recul ‘rly scheduled boat runs were made to up-island

sites -t both atolls,

Later, as the need for upeisland traffic dininish. 4d,

the trips were made on an as-needed basis,
trips made by TG 7.5 boats,

J-3 TG 7.1 controlled all bdcu.:

All trips were dispatched by the HEN iHarine

Dispatcher, with requirements made throuzh the J-3 TG 7.1.

This system

greatly facilitated control, and exnditious use of the boats.
During ‘Jahoo and Umbrella events the TG 7.5 boats were augmented by

use of the TG 7.3 Boat Pool D2tachment which made shceduled runs to the
target arrays.

sO

Regularly scheduled water taxi service tetween Parry and Eniwetok was
maintained throughout the o-eration.

Water taxis were also very effectively |

used by the Arming Team in many instances for after dark movement to the
zero sites.
As of 1 July, TG 7.5 boats were assizned as follows:

"3 - HouseLoats (LOU)

Houseborts were LCU's that were especially configured to supply messing
and sleeping fadlities for arming team memLers anc other project personnel
who were working at or in the vicinity of the barge zero sites.

Having

such facilities immecirtely available at the zero site often expedited work
that had to be done on a crash basis.
