The twenty one basic thermal instruments used various fielis of view and were suitably filtered to obtain qualitative spectral distribution information. The cameras were equipped with red and blue filters to obtain inormation at each end of the visible region of the spectrum, Sev- eral cameras were equipped with spectroscopic attachments to obtain continucus spectra in the visible region. Two of these spectrographs were operated at the Chieerete (William) photo tower.
