Dear Dillon:
This ia to inform you of the present status of ay
plans for attending the forthcoming series of nuclear
tests at the Pacific Proving Ground.
Ae I indicated to you previously, I plan to make the
trip in the last two weeks of June. It now appears
that I will depart Washington on about June 15 so as
to arrive in the forward area at a time to permit
witnessing the detonation of one of our megaton test
devices. In general, the trip will follow a schedule
of three days spent en route Eniwetok, with overnight
stops at Travis Air Forea Base in California and
Hickam Air Porce Base in Hawaii, a atay of four days
in the Pacific Proving Ground area, and a period of
four days apent on the return trip.
All told, the
time away from Washington will be about eleven or
twelve days.
My ataff is making necessary arrangements for the
trip, and I will provide you with further information
as it becomes available.
I wish you a rapid recovery from the aftermath of our
last trip together and am looking forward to your
company on the trip to Eniwetok.
Faithfully yours,
