Seymour, Marine Biologist, Environmental DATE: Sciences Branch, Division of Biology and Medicine, Washington, D.C. © Trnest Wynkoop, Chief, Eniyetok Branch ' Eniwetok Proving Ground 2 SUBJECT: SHIP SUPPORT FOR ECOLOGY SYMBOL: | AT RONGELAP MAR 221958 TEE:EW:M-2603 Reference is made to your letter under the above cubject dated _ March 72 1990, Symbol: BMES:AHS. Based on our present concept of the type of support vequired for your proposed Ecology program at Rongelap, it appears desireble in the best interests of the Government to consider the assignment of "ALOTO" (TSM-44) as your station ship. The inherent uncertainties of test operations at EPG make it in- advisable to establish at this time a firm schedule of ship availability. However, a reasonable forecast of such availability would be sometime during the first half of September, 1953. Cost data compiled to date during the limited period that “ALOTO" has been in service at EPG reflects something in the order of $1250.00 as estimated daily costs for station service. We shall be pleased to support your continuing program on the basis of firm scheduling at a later date when test and funding uncertainties become resolved. CC: W. D.
