Due to the high relative humidity of the
Atoll air, a mildewed, mustv odor of
feather
pillows resulted. A satisfactory remed
y for this
condition was to put the pillows throu
gh the
tumblers, then through a locally dexigned
dryer.
This dryer was a wooden structure 4° x 4% x
77,
fitted with wire mesh trays to hold the pillow
s“while on oair current vuitaining a disinf
ectant
and deodorizer was circulated.
Laundry production records were
tained: the report which appears below maimcovers
the weck ending 27 February 1954, which
was
the period of peak production.
