Dear Mr. Bonnet:
I am enclosing a copy of a letter to Mr. Goding, High Commissioner
Aan ten be
of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, in regard to plans_ for—,2~
Dr, J. E. Rall of the National Institutes of Healthand myself to visit
Kwajalein and Rongelap in September. Though I have not heard from
Mr. Goding in regard to these plans, I feel reasonably certain that he
will agree. I am therefore writing you to request that you issue travel
orders for Dr. Rall and myself for MATS travel to Kwajalein on or about
September 13. Also, would you procure the necessary clearance for us?
Last year clearance for Kwajalein was obtained through the Hawaiian Sea
Frontier (Navy), but if I understand it, such clearance is now obtained
through the Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama.
If plans go through
according to the present schedule, we would arrive in Hawaii on Saturday,
September 11, Since I am not sure MATS arrangements can be done on a
weekend, would it be possible for you to take care of this for us on
the 10th? since our plane leaves early Monday morning, I believe. We
will only be in the Islands for about a week. Your help in this matter
will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
y
