Subject: Refund of Azymed Forces Participation Funds in Connection with Operation SANDSTONE, This will acknowledge receipt of your memorandum of April 28, 1948, on the above subject. Thank you very much for your promptness in informing us of the funds which will be returned to the Commission, We have noted that the estimated post~SANDSTONE costs of the Armed Forces for the fiscal year 1949 will be $4,000,000, plus the cost of installing certain facilities which may be decided upon as necessary after SANDSTONE is complete. It is suggestcd that necessary fiscal arvangements in thisconnoction can be accomplished most casily by direct conversations between the appropriate representative of the Armed Forces and the Commission's Director of Budgets.
