5, Status of Test Program
General McCormack reported on a meeting this morning attended
bySecretary Marshall, Secretary Forrestal, Lt. Gen. Hull, Dr. Bush,
and Mr. Lilienthal, General McCormack, and Captain Russell for the
Commission. A brief report to the President on the forthcoming test
program had been discussed and a general presentation of the plans
for the program had been given by General Hull. During the discus-
sion, Dr. Bushhad stated that in his opinion, long-range detection was
so important that the test should be postponed if the Air Force could
