This letter is to encourage you to do so and to make a few sugpestions which I hope you will find helpful. First of all, when you transit Honolulu please call upon our office there for whatever assistance you may require. We shall be pleased to-help with hotel accommodations, local transportation, on-going reservations and the like. I hope also that this may present an opportunity for you to meet Dr. Philip Helfrich who is now Associate Dean for Research at the University of Hawaii and who has agreed to serve temporarily as Director of our lab at Enewctak. For the trip to Kwajalein, Ihave no special suggestions. Itis a_ military base with all support services and creature comforts. For the trip to Utirik and Rongelap, however, we may expect to be aboard a Trust Territory ship, and to go ashore by small boat. Thus, I suggest a couple of pairs of shorts aid open neck or tee shirts. For the meetings at both places, custom would suggest slacks and a shirt with a collar (an open neck "luau! shirt is fine).
